      Smelling Salts' base power will double against a paralyzed target, but it will also cure the target of paralysis.

      In this Double Battle test, two Hariyama that know the move Smelling Salts face a non-paralyzed Makuhita and a paralyzed Makuhita that both know the move Sleep Talk. 

           Turn 1
     The first Hariyama uses Smelling Salts on the non-paralyzed Makuhita.
     The second Hariyama uses Smelling Salts on the paralyzed Makuhita.
     The non-paralyzed Makuhita uses Sleep Talk.
     The paralyzed Makuhita uses Sleep Talk.

     After Turn 1
     We verify that the power of the first Hariyama's Smelling Salts was less than the second Hariyama's Smelling Salts.
     We verify that the non-paralyzed Makuhita took less damage than the paralyzed Makuhita.
     We verify that the paralyzed Makuhita is no longer paralyzed.

      Smelling Salts' base power will double against a paralyzed target, but it will also cure the target of paralysis. Except if the target has a substitute, it only does normal damage (paralysis cannot be cured and power is not doubled).

      In this Double Battle test, two Hariyama that know the move Smelling Salts face a non-paralyzed Makuhita and a paralyzed Makuhita that both know the move Sleep Talk.

     The paralyzed Makuhita is given the Substitute status and does not take any damage.
     Turn 1
     The first Hariyama uses Smelling Salts on the non-paralyzed Makuhita.
     The second Hariyama uses Smelling Salts on the paralyzed Makuhita.
     The non-paralyzed Makuhita uses Sleep Talk.
     The paralyzed Makuhita uses Sleep Talk.
